My Thrive Life ™ Philosophy

I'm fascinated asking questions about why people experience life so differently.

Why do two people face similar circumstances yet respond in completely different ways?

Why do some people seem to find joy and purpose almost anywhere, while others feel stuck in lives that look perfectly good from the outside?

Those questions have followed me through my years as an attorney, entrepreneur, wife, mother, advisor, and now the founder of My Thrive Life™. Over time, these questions became more than curiosity. They became a philosophy for living.

I've come to believe that a thriving life doesn't happen by accident. It's created through the thousands of choices we make every day—how we interpret our circumstances, how we respond to challenges, what we choose to value, the standards we live by, the boundaries we keep, and the purpose we pursue.

I've also learned that success alone doesn't guarantee a thriving life. However we define success, achievement isn't the whole story. We can accomplish remarkable things and still miss the opportunity to genuinely enjoy the life we've worked so hard to create.

To me, a thriving life is one that is intentionally lived, genuinely enjoyed, and consciously shaped in alignment with our values. Purpose gives direction. Enjoyment gives life richness. A thriving life needs both.

That doesn't mean life is always easy. Every life includes uncertainty, disappointment, loss, and seasons we wouldn't have chosen. But I believe we can continue to live with intention, purpose, enjoyment, and hope—even when life is difficult.

My own spiritual journey has deeply influenced these beliefs, reinforcing my conviction that while we don't control everything that happens to us, we have tremendous influence over how we choose to participate in our lives.

At the heart of my philosophy is this:

The greatest influence we have over our lives comes from how we lead ourselves in response to reality—not from trying to control reality itself.

What I've Come to Believe

These beliefs have been shaped by decades of experience, reflection, and conversations with people from all walks of life. They're still evolving, but they've become the foundation of how I approach life and the work I do.

Life is meant to be intentionally lived, not passively experienced.
Every day presents opportunities to make choices that shape not only the direction of our lives, but also our experience of living them.

A thriving life is about both purpose and enjoyment.
Purpose gives our lives direction. Enjoyment gives them richness. We don't have to choose between creating a meaningful future and appreciating the life we're living today.

Success is only one part of a thriving life.
Achievement can be deeply fulfilling, but it doesn't guarantee that we'll experience joy, peace, or fulfillment. A thriving life is measured by more than accomplishments.

We have more influence over our lives than we often realize.
While we can't control everything that happens to us, we can choose how we interpret our experiences, the standards we live by, the boundaries we establish, and how we respond to life's circumstances.

Every season of life has purpose.
Life isn't meant to stand still. Each season invites us to grow, contribute, enjoy, and prepare for what's next. The purpose may change, but every season matters.

Wisdom grows through self-awareness and discernment.
The better we understand ourselves—our thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and patterns—the better equipped we are to make intentional decisions that align with the lives we want to create.

Thriving isn't a destination. It's a way of participating in life.
It's not something we achieve once and then keep forever. It's something we practice, one decision, one relationship, and one season at a time.

The Guiding Principles of My Thrive Life™

A philosophy is only meaningful if it changes how we live.

Over the years, I've found myself returning to the same core truths again and again. They guide how I approach decisions, relationships, challenges, opportunities, and the inevitable transitions that come with every stage of life.

These aren't rigid rules or promises of a perfect life. They're reminders of the perspective I want to bring to whatever life places in front of me. They help me stay grounded in what matters most, live with greater intention, and enjoy the life I'm creating along the way.

These are the guiding principles of My Thrive Life™:

1. Life is happening for me, not to me.

Every experience—whether welcome or difficult—offers an opportunity to learn, grow, and become wiser. While I may not choose every circumstance, I can choose how I respond to it.

2. Reality is my starting point.

I don't waste energy wishing reality were different. I begin by accepting what is true today, then decide how I want to respond.

3. I have more influence than I have control.

Trying to control people or circumstances rarely brings peace. My greatest influence comes from leading myself with wisdom, intention, and integrity.

4. Purpose and enjoyment belong together.

A meaningful life isn't built on achievement alone. I want to contribute, grow, and pursue worthwhile goals while also enjoying the people, experiences, and everyday moments that make life rich.

5. Every season has a purpose.

The purpose of my life may look different from one season to the next, but every season offers opportunities to grow, contribute, and prepare me for what's ahead.

6. My standards and boundaries shape my life.

My standards reflect the person I'm becoming. My boundaries protect what matters most and allow me to participate in life with greater peace, freedom, and intention.

7. Discernment precedes good decisions.

Emotions, thoughts, and circumstances all provide valuable information, but wisdom comes from taking time to understand what's really happening before deciding how to respond.

8. Thriving is a daily practice.

A thriving life isn't created by one big decision. It's created through the small choices I make every day about how I think, what I value, how I respond, and how fully I choose to participate in my life.

Bringing This Philosophy to Life

A philosophy is only valuable if we know how to apply it.

Knowing what we believe is one thing. Living those beliefs in the middle of everyday decisions, relationships, opportunities, disappointments, and life's transitions is something else entirely.

This is the foundation of the My Thrive Life Framework™.

The framework isn't separate from my philosophy. It's the practical process used to apply these beliefs to real life. It helps you step back, think clearly, ask better questions, and respond with greater intention when life doesn't come with easy answers.

Whether you're making an important decision, navigating a difficult relationship, pursuing a new opportunity, or simply wanting to enjoy your life more fully, the framework provides a practical way to put this philosophy into action.
